    The structure and alignment of the Hellenic Armed Forces reflect the assessment that the most serious potential threat comes from the east. Accordingly, force deployment emphasizes Greek Thrace, the Aegean Islands, and Cyprus, and funding for modernization and expansion has been targeted to specific eventualities.
